Proper container loading and weight control

Sometimes during the ground transportation of goods across the Ukraine you may face the exceed of the maximum weight of containers or the permissible axle load of a truck. This violation can cause huge fines for the carrier company. Moreover, the State Service of Ukraine for Transport Safety has strengthened control lately, and now almost every vehicle is checked on the weigh station. How to avoid the fine? What is the reason for the truck being overweight? What do you do if your truck is caught for carrying extra weight? The most important thing when loading a container is to distribute the cargo evenly and fix it properly to avoid the possibility of its movement. According to the loading plan, light goods should be placed on top of heavy ones and there should not be any void spaces. Therefore, it is important to give the shipper clear instructions on how to load the container to avoid overweight. One of the key moments is to select the appropriate vehicle. There are special sensors installed on some trailers that allow you to determine whether there is an overweight and to stop the loading process if there is. However, not all trucks are equipped with that kind of devices. In addition, if the axle overload is insignificant or the total weight of the cargo does not exceed the permissible limits the sensor will not be able to determine it at all. If you notice that the weight exceeds the legal limits, you can distribute the goods between two separate vehicles and deliver it to the point of destination avoiding fines. But what if the overweight is caught on the route of the container at the weight-check station? In that case sometimes returning the truck to the loading point can be the best solution to at least reduce the fine, especially if the way back is shorter than the way to the unloading point.
