Suez Canal blocked by huge container ship

The giant container ship is causing a traffic jam on one of the world’s busiest waterways. The Suez Canal passage is currently blocked for ships in both directions. The container ship, operated by Evergreen Marine, was knocked off course by high winds and sandstorms early on Tuesday, March 23rd. Unfortunately, the  operation of removing vessel  from the shallows that night had failed.  2 dredgers will continue to work during the nighttime. About 12% of world trade passes through the Suez Canal, which connects the Mediterranean with the Red Sea and provides the shortest maritime link between Asia and Europe. Container ship size The ship that blocked the path of other vessels that are now stuck in lines in both directions is of 400 m in length and 59 m in width. BSM actions Bernhard Schulte Ship management (BSM), which operates the container ship, has not confirmed previous reports that the vessel has already been partially removed from the shallows. The companie’s management stated  that its “top priorities are the safe reloading of the vessel and the safe resumption of traffic on the Suez Canal.” It has been said that the process can take several days. Eight tugboats are working to bring the ship aground, while excavators remove sand from where it wedges into the bank of the canal.
